How long have you been writing for?
10 Years

How long does it take to write a book?
A whole Year

Have you any advice for people wanting to write a story?
Read anything that you are interested in.
You really have to get into writing.
Write lots of stories.

Out of all the books you have written which is your favourite and why?

My favourite book is Scarrs.It is based on my dad who he died before I before I began to write it.

Who inspired you to start writing?
My sons by telling stories about what they were up to.

What is your favourite author?
David Almond

What is your favourite book?
Jamie O’Neil “At Swim to Boys”. It is all about Ireland at the time of the Easter Holidays

When your book is published what kind of feeling do you get?
It is lovely to see my book published but by the time the book is published I am busy working on something else.

Have you ever been spotted by a person who recognised you?
In Glasgow when I was signing something in a shop, an old lady said to me “you’re a writer and your husband does my windows!” That’s as famous as it gets.

What is the best thing about being an author?
It is lovely to meet the teenagers in school visits

Have you always wanted to be an author if not what did you want to do?

I always wanted to write but never thought it would happen. When I was younger I wanted to be a Teacher [and I did]
