Title:
Bad Girls
Author: Jacqueline Wilson
Reviewer: Sammy N, Quarryhill School
The characters
Mandy is nice, kind, quiet and good at school, but she hates what
her mum makes her wear, hates her hair because it is tied up in
pigtails, and hates being bullied.
Tanya is nice to Mandy, loud and doesn’t go to school, but
a bad part of Tanya is that she steals stuff and gives them to Mandy,
so that she doesn’t get blamed.
What happens in the story
Mandy starts hanging about with a girl who is older than her called,
Tanya. One day, Tanya takes Mandy to the park, then they go to a
shop and Tanya steals a green velvet scrunchy, (a bobble). Afterwards,
they go to another shop called, Indigo, and Tanya, yet again steals
something. A knitted jumper. But this time she wasn’t so lucky,
they were caught by the police!
What part was the best
The whole book was brilliant, but the bit I liked best, was when
they had circle time because it made them realise what bullying
can lead to.
What part wasn’t so good
Everything was good, and I wouldn’t change anything, even
if I got the chance!
Funny or scary
The story made me feel kind of annoyed because I really don’t
think that the bullies, Kim, Sarah, and Melanie, would have liked
to be bullied.
What did you learn from the story
I learnt not to bully people for no reason what so ever, and also
not to steal because if you do the stuff doesn’t belong to
you, and in stealing things you upset people.
Recommending the book
I would recommend this book to a friend because I’m sure that
they would probably enjoy it as much as I did.
