Title:
More Horowitz Horror
Author: Anthony Horowitz
Reviewer: Holly S, Northfield Academy
There were eight short stories in this book, the first one was called,
‘The Hitchhiker'. It was about a family who pick up a hitchhiker,
but it turned out that he had escaped from a lunatic asylum that
was ten miles down the road from where they picked the hitchhiker
up. I really liked this story. It was full of suspense, and it made
me say in my head, “don’t do it, don’t do it”.
It was really creepy.
The second story was called, ‘The sound of murder’.
It was about a girl who could hear her French teacher’s thoughts,
and found out about a murder he was going to commit. It was a really
creepy story, and it’s kind of puts you off of your French
teachers.
The third story was called, ‘Burnt’. This story seriously
puts you off of suntan lotion. A wife uses watered down suntan so
that her husband gets really burnt, and has to go to hospital, it
makes you tell yourself to not let anyone sort your suntan lotion
for you.
The fourth story was called, ‘Flight 715’. It definitely
puts you off of planes, and going to sleep before a flight because
a girl dreams that her flight is going to crash, and it does. It’s
put me off flying even more!
The fifth story was called, ‘Howard’s end’. It
wasn’t really exciting, but it had a twist at the end, which
made me finally understand the story, but it wasn’t very good.
The sixth story was called, The Lift. It was quite good, it makes
you wonder with suspense about what’s going to happen. It’s
about a little boy who goes into a lift, but doesn’t come
back out again.
The seventh story was called, ‘The phone goes dead’.
I’ve read the proper, whole story of this one before. It’s
really good. It really does put you off phones that you don’t
know about.
The eighth story was called, ‘Twist Cottage’. This was
my favourite story. It was about a cottage with a curse on it. It
made me quite edgy about cheaply sold cottages that you don’t
the history of.
There was also a ninth story, that sent shivers down my spine. It
was called, ‘The shortest horror story ever written’.
I don’t know if it’s truthful, it’s hard to explain
why, but it really makes you nervous.
